Amir Khan unveils strategy to beat Lamont Peterson – Boxing news
Amir Khan has finally acquired his rematch against Peterson, a chance to get back his IBF/WBA light welterweight titles for May 19, 2012, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas.
Excited Khan has unveiled his strategy to beat Lamont Peterson. In his media appearance, Khan revealed his formula, which according to him can bring Peterson down in no time.
In their first battle, Khan was accused of pushing and pulling Peterson, for which 2 points from the former champion’s score were deducted. Now, Khan says that he will not push or pull Peterson like he did before and he will not even play the defensive game
he played earlier. According to Khan, it is best to be in the attacking mode to beat Peterson instead of covering and waiting for the right time to hit the spot.
Khan revealed, “A lot more uppercuts, we’re going to work on the inside and also instead of standing there and taking the shots on the inside when he throws a hook we’re going to go under them shots and maybe work on the side when he throws a hook we’re
going to hit the angles.”
It seems like Khan has lost his cool to Peterson and he is now making changes to his fighting styles to get his titles back. Right now, he seems pretty impatient which might end up being his weak spot. He further added that he will be using his body movements
to add momentum to his punches and uppercuts will be his main weapon against Peterson.
Amir has been training hard and has been making media appearances to pressurise his opponent. Who knows maybe this is just a tactic to lead his opponent astray. However, what seems to be Amir’s strategy is that he wants to slow down Peterson by delivering
uppercuts and working on his inner body.
After his defeat on December 10, 2011, Khan has been irked with the irregularities in the judgment. He has been making claims that the decision was unjust and that he won the fight clean. Now, he has his chance to prove his mettle against Peterson.
