Amir Khan vs. Carlos Molina: Khan dominates the showdown – Boxing News
Boxing fans all around the world were satisfied when Briton fighter Amir Khan finally grabbed his seat back in the division. Khan, who lost to Danny Garcia earlier this year, was on the verge of downfall just when Molina came in as the perfect opponent to
stage a comeback for him. Both fighters locked horns past Saturday, with Khan dominating every single round of the showdown.
Khan was dominating since the beginning. The first round started with Khan backing up Molina, while the latter was trying to defend himself against Khan’s speed. Round one was for Khan. The former WBA and IBF light welterweight titlist established his dominance
right in the beginning.
The second round once again started with Khan controlling the show. Molina, who was a couple of inches shorter than Khan, was unable to get hold of the Briton. Unfortunately, for Molina, it was a nightmare trying to catch an opponent who is way speedier
than he thought.
Khan lands a flurry yet again and Molina’s condition go worse. The cut he got in the first round is bleeding bad now but Molina cannot do much about it.
Throughout the fight, Khan played sensibly and at the same time in a very disciplined manner. Unlike his last two fights, Khan was able to keep himself from falling off. He was more composed and more focused, thanks to Virgil Hunter, his new trainer.
For now, Khan has revived his career by making a strong comeback against Molina. Khan’s nemesis Danny Garcia was also present at the ringside, giving indications that a rematch between the two is possible.
After the fight, Khan asserted that he would now go for a world title match, probably a rematch against Danny Garcia.
“You could see by the way I was fighting that I was more patient. At times he did catch me, but I never lost my concentration. He did catch me but I composed myself,” he said.
“Carlos is a tough, tough fighter. I got him with some clean shots but he still came forward. I composed myself and said to myself that I'm going to stick to the game. I'm getting better as a fighter. He's teaching me how to understand boxing. I'm picking
the right shot at the right time. If I use my speed at the right time, there is no-one who can touch me,” added the Briton.
