Amir Khan vs. Danny Garcia: Who is the show stopper? - Boxing Special
Amir Khan and Danny Garcia are inching towards their career’s most significant bout with every passing day. The duo is all geared up to take on each other on July 14, 2012 at Mandalay Bay Resorts & Casino situated in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.
Undoubtedly, Amir Khan is the one who has the upper edge as far as winning the hearts and minds of boxing fans is concerned. Khan is a quality pugilist who has not only taken on big names but has also nailed them to prove he is a talented and powerful brawler.
His style, though like all other pugilists, possesses some deficiencies yet is loved by many. In most of his bouts especially against European brawlers, it was his unique backing up style that aided him in winning the bout.
Furthermore, Khan with his determination and above all hard work has affirmed several times that it needs something more than sheer power to nail the Bolton proud. The humble somewhat down to earth lad is well known for adopting a stiff stance at matters
that are wrong for example in the case of Lamont Peterson.
Amir respects everybody, does not do the brash talking, he does not target his opponent’s personal matters or people associated with them unlike Danny and his father. A bird’s eye view at the duo clearly shows that Amir, who also pays serious attention to
promoting his brand name, had the clear upper edge as far as the fan base is concerned but his fan base grew madly when Angel, Danny’s father did something out of the box.
In their very first press conference, when everything was going smoothly, Angel started to bombard Amir with ethnic and racial slurs. The media gathering dubbed as ‘Fireworks’ really did fire up the two camps but Amir did not let his rage overcome his sensibility.
Since that explosive press conference, despite the fact that Angel and his son are being treated as a villain, the importance of the bout has increased manifold. People are now talking about it predicting what will Khan say, how will Amir tackle the accusations,
will he also bash Danny and his family or will the matter be resolved in the ring during the 12-round clash.
Well, nothing happened and Khan and his camp remained calm and quiet. The only statement that came out was, “My fists will do the talking and Danny will pay for his father’s sin in the ring”. One thing should be admitted at all costs, Danny and his father
did steal the show so much so that the whole month has passed since that June 4 press conference and the duo is still in the media only because of that press conference.
Danny does not have many fans but now people know who he is. Khan does have more fans but a minute minority is diffident at supporting their ideal because of his last Lamont Peterson performance.
Khan will try to regain his lost pride and above all is definitely ready to bash Danny in order to prove that his vow was true and Angel’s comments were really ‘idiotic’.
