Amir Khan wants Danny Garcia next if he beats Zab Judah – Boxing News
Former WBA and IBF light welterweight titlist Amir Khan wants to get his hands on WBC and IBF unified light welterweight titlist Danny Garcia. However, Khan wants Garcia to first defeat Zab Judah next year in order to pursue their rematch.
Garcia, who was once an unknown fighter, almost destroyed Khan earlier this year in July. Unfortunately, back then Garcia did not offer a rematch to Khan, believing that the Briton would not have done the same if he had won.
“I wanted to fight in LA, it was a great show, Danny Garcia was there and I pointed out I want a rematch. I don't think he was too keen on it,” said Khan regarding his fight against Carlos Molina past Saturday, which he won via TKO.
“But I had a good chat with Richard Schaefer (CEO of Golden Boy Promotions) the day after and he put a plan in front of me. Let's hope Danny Garcia wins his next fight because that could be the next one for us,” he added regarding the rematch against Danny
Garcia.
Danny Garcia previously stated that he would not fight Khan but now he is ready.
“If the money's right then we'll definitely fight whenever and wherever,” said Garcia. “But it's up to what Golden Boy wants because I can say 'Yeah let's do it' but really I have no control over it.”
However, Garcia has asserted that he will not fight Khan in Britain, as he believes the crowd would be completely against him. Garcia wants the fight to happen in the USA so that the crowd would be balanced, even though he knows Khan is still the more famous
fighter in the USA as well.
For now, there is no news if Khan will ever get his revenge against Garcia, as the latter will be facing Zab Judah while Khan is scheduled to fight in April next year. Khan is eager to get his hands on Garcia but the latter is not so desperate. Garcia needs
to plan his moves well as a loss against Khan could mean a career wreckage for him.
