Amir Khan’s decision to face Carlos Molina – an easy fight to build career? – Boxing Special
Briton proud Amir Khan has announced his next opponent, and it seems like the former WBA and IBF unified light welterweight titlist is hoping for an easy way out. Khan’s next opponent will be unbeaten fighter Carlos Molina. The date of the fight is not decided
yet but it will take place sometime during December.
Carlos Molina is a tough fighter but not as tough as Khan’s last opponent Danny Garcia. According to most analysts, Molina is not a puncher, at least not as good as Garcia, which is why probably Khan has selected him. It should be noted here that Khan will
be entering the fight with a new trainer at his back. He recently announced he will be working with Andre Ward’s trainer Virgil Hunter for the fight.
Khan was previously being trained by Freddie Roach, Hall of Famer coach who trains Filipino fight sensation Manny Pacquiao. Khan parted ways with Roach after his devastating loss to Danny Garcia on July 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Now, the Brit is looking forward to make a comeback statement by defeating Carlos Molina in December.
“Molina is a good fighter who has yet to taste defeat, so I know that he will be very dangerous,” while announcing a fight against Molina. “He is a tricky fighter who possess a lot of natural speed. I always want to face hungry young fighters and in Molina
I'm up against a guy who has ambitions of world title success.”
On the other hand, Virgil Hunter praised Khan as an outstanding fighter who has the potential to do more.
“Amir is an extremely talented fighter and I'm very happy to become his new trainer. I have seen a lot of him and he has many attributes such as his speed and heart,” said Hunter.
It is yet to be seen if Khan’s partnership with Hunter will work out for the Brit. Similarly, we also have to see if Khan’s choice of facing Molina was a good one or not. Since Molina is an unbeaten fighter, the fight can once again go against Khan.
