Amir Mansour aiming shot at WBF title against Raymond Ochieng – Boxing news
The 38-year-old heavyweight Amir Mansour is aiming a title shot next week at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, as he will be appearing in his first ever championship bout against Raymond ‘King Kong’ Ochieng for the World Boxing Federation International heavyweight
title.
Amir ‘Hardcore’ Mansour has fought four times over the last nine months and has knocked out all of his four opponents with a dazzling one-punch knockout. Moreover, three of his four opponents were being carried away.
Therefore Mansour (13-0, 10 knockouts) is expecting a lot at from his first title fight at Rollins Centre.
“Of course this is a dream come true, fighting in my first title fight,” Mansour said. “It's definitely going to be a domino effect if we win this fight. And that's exactly what I'm expecting.”
Mansour, who was set free from drug-related offences on August 27, 2010 from the federal prison, also said, “I have three sons, and I'm focused on raising them and training and fighting and doing what I do in the ring,” he said. “Life changes dramatically
when you go from a prison cell to freedom. I'm a lot more dedicated to life.”
His manager, Keith Stoffer, also admired his fighter and said he has a long way to go, as he is climbing up pretty quickly.
“He's in great shape. He's chiseled, and he will have his opportunity to get to the big stage,” Stoffer said.
All that is left to see is whether Mansour can really see off Kenya’s Raymond Ochieng, who has won 18 fights with 12 knockouts.
The other interesting heavyweight bout this Friday will have Franklin ‘Yah-Yah’ Lawrence (14-2-2, nine knockouts) in the ring against Jason ‘The Sensation’ Gavern (20-7-4, nine knockouts) in a 12-rounder for the World Boxing Championship Caribbean Boxing
Federation title.
The undercard on the same note will be up against the Smyrna super middleweight champion Mike ’Mighty’ Tiberi in an eight round bout.
Meanwhile another fighter from Wilmington, Omarr Douglass will make his debut in a four-round super featherweight bout.
