Amir Sadollah to fight Jorge Lopez at UFC 143 in February 2012 – UFC News
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) management has announced the welterweight bout at UFC 143. The news was confirmed on November 29, 2011. According to the reports, American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Jorge Lopez would
face compatriot MMA fighter Amir Sadollah inside the octagon when UFC 143 takes place on February 4, 2012.
For Lopez, the 23-year old MMA fighter, this would be second time inside a UFC ring. Lopez’s first fight was at UFC Fight Night 25 when he made his debut inside the UFC octagon against Justin Edwards in September 2011. Lopez lost
the bout due to a unanimous decision.
At UFC 143, which is scheduled to take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, will be Sadollah’s moment to make an impact. He lost his last fight in August 2011. He faced Duane Ludwig at UFC Live event but lost through
a unanimous decision. Sadollah, who has Iranian and Irish blood, have had an uneven career.
He has not been able to secure a winning streak, which went for more than two matches. He won his fight at UFC 106 against Phil Baroni in November 2009 and won the bout in January 2010 against Brad Blackburn at UFC Fight Night.
He lost to Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 114 in May 2010 and then again had a two straight wins at UFC 122 against Peter Sobotta and DaMarques Johnson at UFC Fight Night in March 2011.
Sadollah is also the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 7 event, which was held in Nevada in June 2008. He defeated C.B. Dollaway in the finals with his armbar submission. It was a first round submission, which Sadollah can repeat
against Lopez at UFC 143. Sadollah would not want to lose another fight. He would certainly be looking to get a win over Lopez.
On the other hand, Lopez, nicknamed Lil Monster, would focus on winning the bout with a knockout shot that would give him closer to a possible welterweight title bout in the future. For Lopez, this fight against Sadollah would
be a career saving one for sure. He lost his debut bout against Edwards in September 2011 and would not want to lose his second consecutive fight in the UFC.
