Pakistan’s former opening batsman, the left-handed Amir Sohail, after the success of the recently concluded Faysal Bank Super Eight T20 tournament, has urged the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) to organize more of such events in the country.
Amir stressed that Pakistan will have to rely on its domestic events during the reigning absence of international tournaments from the country.
Speaking to the press on the success of the domestic Twenty20 tournament, the 44-year-old said, “The way the people have poured into the stadium every day of this week long tournament shows just hungry the Pakistanis are for quality cricket. We have seen such a packed house and atmosphere after such a long time. I have no doubt that if the board organizes limited over cricket leagues all over the country it will be an instant success.”
On Friday, the tournament saw the final match between favourites, the Karachi http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dolphins-c781, and the Rawalpindi Rams, played at the Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad.
The fixture was won by the Rams in a sensational finale which required the introduction of the super over for the first time in the event, as Karachi managed to tie the required tally of 164 runs. Later, however, the flamboyant Dolphins were restricted from making 17 runs in the crucial super over, giving the Rams their first ever Twenty20 title.
The match was played in front of a packed stadium which is testament to the fact that cricket fans in Pakistan want to see the sport.
