Amir Khan vs. Danny Garcia: Khan is hopeful of victory against the unbeaten American – Boxing News
Unbelievably, after being verbally thrashed by the ‘Garcias’ brutally, former IBF and WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan has maintained his calm. In fact, the Bolton proud feels it is his time to reign once again. Khan is confident that he will beat
Danny Garcia in a decisive manner, showing the world that he indeed is the number one fighter at the light welterweight level.
“His style is perfect for me. With my hand speed and fast feet, he is ideal for me,” said Khan who feels confident of beating Garcia.
It should be noted here that Khan would be entering the ring against Danny Garcia, the current WBC light welterweight titlist, after a long training camp of almost two months. The fight will take place on July 14 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las
Vegas.
Khan started his camp back in April, when he scheduled to take on Lamont Peterson for the IBF and WBA light welterweight titles on May 19 at the same venue. The match was cancelled following Peterson’s positive drug test results.
Since then, Khan has been training. Moreover, he changed his strength and conditioning coach during the camp. He fired Alex Ariza and hired Ruben Tabares. With all of the hustle bustle in Khan’s training camp, some analysts are of the view that the Bolton
proud might exhaust in the ring earlier than he usually does as he has been training for months.
Khan retaliated towards Angel and Danny Garcia’s comments saying, “They can say what they want, it won’t bother me or break me mentally. His father and him seem to be more bothered about other fights I’ve had than our one.”
“I know he beat Erik Morales to win the title, but this is a different level. I’m one above for him and this is the elite level of the division,” said the British-Pakistani fighter who wants to move up in weight after beating Danny Garcia.
