Amit Ivri and Alon Mandel clinch 100m butterfly gold: Day three – Luxembourg Euro-Meet 2012
Amit Ivri and Alon Mandel of Israel demonstrated their stupendous efforts by clinching gold medals of Women and Men’s 100m butterfly respectively on day three of the 14th Luxembourg Euro Long Course Meet 2012 on Sunday, January 29.
The session concluded with the playoffs of 100m butterfly and 200m backstroke in Men and Women’s category.
Ivri remained considerably faster over her challengers from the start. With her astounding skills and impressive stroke, she completed her double-lap event with timing of 1 minute and 00.09 seconds.
She remained just 0.19 seconds away from her following swimmer, Ida Marko-Varga of Simklubben Triton, who emerged on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing an effort of 1 minute and 00.28 seconds. Bethany Carson of Swim Ulster was third position
holder of the race as she remained 0.56 seconds slower from her former finisher and completed her swim in a time of 1 minute and 00.84 seconds.
Next was the similar event in Men’s corner, where Mandel proved his mettle for the crown by submitting a top finest time of 53.56 seconds. With his remarkable effort, he remained just 0.10 seconds ahead of Loughborough University’s Joe Roebuck, who settled
on the victory stand for silver medal by finishing his swim in a time of 53.66 seconds. Roebuck smothered his following swimmer, Andreas Vazaios of Hellenic Swimming Federation, who claimed third position by clocking 53.91 seconds for third position.
Meanwhile, Daryna Zevina of Ukrainian Swimming Federation stunned the audience by improving championship mark of the 200m backstroke with an effort of 2 minutes and 12.60 seconds.
She was trailed by Czech Swimming Federation’s Barbora Zavadova, who was 1.18 seconds slower from the gold medallist and concluded her race in a time of 2 minutes and 13.78 seconds for second position. Zavadova was followed by her teammate, Simona Baumrtova,
who stayed 0.97 seconds behind the silver medallist and surfaced on the wall for third position by submitting 2 minutes and 14.75 seconds.
Later, Israel’s Yakov Toumarkin served notice of his talent by raking gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke. He hit the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 00.65 seconds for gold medal. His effort was traced by Nimrod Shapira Bar-Or, who remained 1.23
seconds behind and finished his race with a second best effort of 2 minutes and 01.88 seconds.
The third spot of the race was secured by Jakub Kocar of Czech Swimming Federation as he transpired on the concluding wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 04.53 seconds
The session came to an end after the invincible efforts of all participants while the position holders were awarded medals for their undisputed efforts at the medal ceremony of the championship.
