Amount in U.S. $ should I expect shelter, travel and food (7wks in India...Delhi to Leh)? Air tickets excluded

I am writing for more feedback on the expected cost in American Dollars I should expect while In India. I am doing graduate research and have only $1300.00 to last me. Any notable ideas?

Well, not very hard ; but, still hard with 1300 bucks .You have to adapt the Indian way of traveling with 1300.

2000 would be a good amount for an economy  western style travel.
