  1. 3 bucks was a great tip.  Usually people tip 10% if the waitress/waiter was ok, 15% if (s)he was good, 20% if (s)he was great, and 25% if (s)he was extraordinary.  Sometimes people tip more on holidays, like maybe a $5, $10, or $20 (especially at Christmas).

It's easy to calculate a tip, even if you don't have a cellphone that has calculator capacity.

For 10%, move the decimal point to the left one space.  For example, if your meal was $20.00, the tip would be $2.  For 15%, add HALF more of ten percent on.  For example, half more of the $2 would be $1, so you would give a $3 tip.

For a $20 tip, add double of ten percent.  For a $25 tip, add double of ten percent plus half of ten percent.

Or, if you have a cell phone, multiply the amount of your meal times the percent you want to give as a tip.  For example, if the meal was $5 you would take $5 x .25 if you wanted to give a twenty-five percent tip.

  2. I tend to double the first place, so I probably would have done $2, but by no means is $3 unreasonable, especially if things were great.

  3. About $2.00

  4. easiest way to figure out what you should leave for a tip is take the tax and multiply by 2 .Even though we would like more !!! but that is a standard tip

  5. $3 is good for a $12 meal.  Anthing less than a $3 tip for dinner for one is kind of small.  If you were one of three-five people all ordering $12 meals, then 15%-20% is typical.

For two people, you should tip $5 minimum even if your combined bill is under $15.

  6. $2.50

  7. $2 give or take depending on the service.

  8. It was an appropriate amount for the size of your meal.

  9. far too much it should have been 10% or 1$ 20 cents.

  10. $3 is a good tip for a $12 bill. It's more than should be expected. I usually tip better than 15-20%, especially if I had outstanding service or if I was there for a long time.

  11. usually a tip is 15% of what you paid. So for a 12$ meal, you could have only given 2$.
