Nature Valley Granola Bar says on the label SERVING SIZE: 2 Bars.

Amount Per Serving: 6G Sat Fat. Is that for one bar or two?

So does that mean 2 bars equals 12 G fat?

Or is it 2 bars equals 6G fat?

  1. 2 bars equal one serving so there are 6 grams of fat in two bars.

  2. If the serving size is 2 bars, the the amunts per serving is for the total serving size, not a portion of it

  3. Nope...2 bars = 6 grams of fat. Each one is 3 grams of fat.

  4. The hard ones that come two per package are equal to one serving.

  5. 2 Bars = 6g fat. The serving size is two bars, and for every serving there are 6g fat.

  6. It means that its 6 grams of saturated fat in one bar.  So if you eat both bars at onces you're eating 2 servings and getting 12 grams of fat.

It's one of the ways that manufacturers cheat.  They'll say "Only X grams of fat per serving!" and then you look at the box and a serving is only 1/4 cup when everyone knows that a real live person is going to eat a whole cup for a serving!   Or with potato chips, they say 6 chips is a serving.  Who ever eats 6 chips and then stops?!

*Additional*  Oops, sorry, my bad.  I thought you said that a serving size was 1 bar.  Yeah, it means 3 grams per bar then.  Duh.  Sorry!  Everyone else is right!

  7. its for 2 bars. nutrition facts info is for the serving size. if the serving size is 2 bars, then it refers to both.

  8. That would mean it's 6 grams of saturated fat for TWO bars.

When it says "amount per serving" it means the amount of nutrients for the serving size said on the package.

  9. If the serving size is two bars, the the amount per serving is for two bars. So two bars equal 6G fat

  10. If a serving size is 2 bars and there are 6G fat PER SERVING , Then that MUST mean both bars have a grand total of 6G of fat.
