Could you please tell me what amp I need for this sub?

http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=176543&cc_fm=Toolbox+Cart

It needs to be from Best Buy or Circuit City. I am on a budget but need an amp that will power it correctly.

Also, anyone like this sub?

Thanks!

  1. i can't answer that. who knows why no one likes sony subs. i think they sound nice. i was there at cc myself looking at a combo deal on some subs in a box just like your witha MTX Terminator Amplifier and it hit hard.i'd get a MTX Terminator Amplifier.

but since they both carry pioneer 1200watts max 600watts rms,

    Pioneer - 1200W Class-D Mono Amplifier With Low-Pass Filter

    Model: GM-D8400M .

    bb reg.price$299.99is  on sale

    cc $349.99 buy on net save $50. = $299.99

  2. Sony - Xplod 1200W Class AB Bridgeable 2-Ch. Amplifier at bestbuy is the option I guess. You could go to www.onlinecarstereo.com and find way better amps that are reliable and cheaper and this site is the best. free shipping, and it's really quick and not at all like ebay. I don't like sony's, but if you power them with this amp bridged at 2 ohms, then you'll have one mediocre system! No offense at all man I'm not a ball buster, you just get what you pay for, and that's not quality.

  3. You should buy 2 subs with a P6001BD amp...This will give you 600 watts. You can buy amps cheaper on ebay than at Circuit City..Look below. It's a refurb. unit,but--I have one like this running now for 7 years now that is a refurb. unit.

  4. The closest amplifier that I could find was Alpine's mono amplifier. It'll output 500 watts RMS at 2ohms. It's $204.99 at Best Buy. Another alternative I found is Rockford Fosgate's P500-2 which is a pricier option at $399.99. It outputs the same amount of watts. It's nice to get two subwoofers at that price along with the enclosure. However, Sony isn't the greatest brand. I'm not trying to sound super harsh, but it's very true that you get what you pay for when it comes to car audio. You'd probably be better of picking up a pair of cheap Pioneer or Kenwood subwoofers than going with Sony.

  5. Get the Sony ZR Series 2/1-Channel Amplifier (XM-ZR1252B). and bridge it to both of the subs so you will be putting 800 watts on both subs and it should kick pretty hard. I bought the same subs you did and I have a 1200 watt sony xplod and I bridged it to the subs and h**l it kicks harder than my 3 10" pioneer subs I have in my car. good luck!

  6. you could go with the rockrord p300-1bd it should do the trick
