  1. The fuses tell you the true max watt output. Depending on the configuration, you have either a 20 amp or 40 amp max power in.

    Watts = Amps x Volts

With motor running, your car produces about 14 volts typically.

    20A x 14V = 280W max in, divide by 2 channels = 140W

Output is always less because of heat generated.

So 200W for 20A fuse is an acceptable approximation

    A 2000W amp needs about a 150A fuse.

  2. is that 2000watts RMS or peak (peak/max wattage mean absolutely nothing at all, what you care about is the RMS -or continuous wattage

with amps they need to be CEA-compliant with means that they make or exceed their advertised RMS wattage with minimum distortion

there are a lot of very over rated amps (the wattage specs are blown way out of proportion so you will buy it- you would be lucky as h**l to get half of the advertised RMS wattage, and it would be distorted- the main cause of sub damage

    here are the CEA-compliant companies

    Alpine

    Bazooka

    Blaupunkt

    Clarion

    Eclipse

    Infinity

    JBL

    JL Audio

    Kenwood

    Kicker

    MTX

    Pioneer

    Polk Audio

    Rockford Fosgate

    Sony

if it aint one of these brands its not putting out anywhere near 2000watts (peak/max or RMS) is over rated
