Amp watt q and subwoofer warning signs

the amp is a class d monoblock amp.The spec in the booklet says rms power into 2 ohms 2000w x 1.If i were to hook 2 subs to it would it cut it in half say 1000w to each sub or stay at 2000w each?Also how can you tell when a subwoofer is max out with out blowing it.Trying to power down a amp and find subs max point with out damage?Any other info on this subject would help.

  1. The amp would be putting out a total of 2000 watts,so each sub would be getting a 1000 watts each.


  2. It all really comes down to the wiring. You can power as many subs as you want at 2 ohms. If, they are wired to a 2 ohm final load. But, you will divide the power between them.     Your best bet for two subs would be, two dual two ohm voice coil subs.

    As for the max point. Always use the RMS power rating as the maximum safe power handling of the sub. In turn, Always use the RMS rating of the amp as the "real world" output of the amp. The peak, or max, numbers aren't really worth anything.
