I was trying to figure out what would be better. Is it better to just have an amp hooked up to your car speakers, or hooked up to subs? I dont like my music real real loud that i go def afterwards. But I do like my music with alot of bass. I have a aftermarket sony headunit, two 220 watt 6 1/2 inch sony speakers in the front, and about to get two 460 watt pioneer 6 x 9 speakers in the back. Will the amp make any difference in how much sound the speakers put out cause i am not to sure exactly how car audio works. So please dont use to many technical terms. And I drive an 04 Corolla if that makes any difference

  1. Fultron competition 150w.

  2. look closely at those watt ratings...you need to know the rms value...not the max or peak.

an amp will always sound better than a radio. not only can it make the speakers louder, but it will also make the sound a lot cleaner. and cleaner sound is better for you speakers and usually they can then handle more power than the radio will give out because its cleaner power. even stock speakers can sound really good off an amp.

the only way to run a sub is off an amp.

for your speakers, get a 4 channel amp and hook a channel to each.

  3. Well if you like super loud bass it is always a good idea to get some sort of amp with not to high of a rating to power the speakers. Cuz if the bass is straight knocking you might not be able to hear the music.
