Question:

Amplifier on and off?

I hooked up a "Trunk Loc PAC" to my car so that I could add a little extra thump with an amplifer and Sub without affecting my factory setup. But I'm having a problem where the remote on/off is not functioning properly, and it turns on and off continously. If I run a wire directly from the 12 volt to the amps remote it works fine (but would obviously drain the battery dead) and I dont want to run a power switch to the front of the car, where I have to remember to turn it on and off all the time. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the remote turn on work properly?

  1. You could use the ignition wire from the stereo. It will only be on when the ignition is on.

If you bought the type that "senses" when the audio is on to turn on the remote. Unfortunately, they rarely work properly.

The switched 12v ignition wire will be the best bet.

  2. Since your amp is running off of the stock system then your going to want to find the wire where the antenna power goes. The antenna only is on when the head unit is on and therefore would turn the amp on when your listening to music and it would go off with the car.

    hope this helps.
