Amps and subs?

I have a Sony amp I'm not really sure of the model but it's probably like the Sony Xplod 2-Channel 125-Watt Car Amplifier. I have it running to a Rockford fosgate 10'' P1. Can I replace it with an alpine 10" type R. I know its duel voice will that work? What would I have to do or can it just stay the same.

  1. Yeah you could replace the Fosgate with an Alpine Type R but the Alpine would be seriously underpowered if your amp is really only 125 watts. If you can bridge the 2 channels and get 250 watts then i would be somewhat better. The Alpine Type R's are 500 RMS and that amp would only power about half the RMS capable. The dvc (duel voice coil) is not a problem either. With all Alpine subs they include connection wires to wire the subs voice coils in parallel @ 2ohm (i recommend doing that)

    Hope this helps.

  2. get a totally different amp. Sony would not push a Type R enough. U would need atleast a 500 watt amp to push that Alpine

  3. since its a 2 channel amp you will need the dual 2ohm type r to get the most out of that amp
