Amps & subs?

Question

i have a pair of new subs, a Delco Electronics factory H.U. that already puts out a lot of bass, but i have no amplifier. Just wondering, is the amp required to hook up the subs? would it just work if i parallel connected the subs with the back speaker wires that already exist, attatched to a pair of aftermarket speakers? or would i need anything extra? I have a 2000 Chevy Malibu

if you just parallel your new subs with the factory subs, chances are you will fry the factory delco amp, if you don't want to buy another amp and use your new subs off the delco you need to run them in series.
