Amsterdam Art Galleries.. do they have lots of places to sit ?

I like to take plenty of time to look at a painting. Some galleries have lots of sitting places. Some have folding stools or lend wheelchairs. Being oldish I can't stand for hours. What 's your experience in Amsterdam.

  1. I'm just wondering if you can't stand for long, you could request maybe for chairs and stools and they could provide you. I'm pretty sure they can work something out for you if you ask them.

But why don't you first call the galleries in advance before you go? Then, you will have a better idea about their service.

    Hope that helps

  2. When you say art galleries, do you mean the museums or the kind of galleries which are shops for art?

I do not know much about the shop kind, but I know that the museums in Amsterdam have a decent amount of seats and often also wheelchairs on loan, although you may need to proof that you need one, (doctors declaration or something like that.)

If you know which museum you want to go, you can contact them beforehand and ask. That way they can make sure you have a wheelchair when you need it.

The seats in the museums are mostly of the permanent kind, available for all who want to spend time seeing one piece of art.

I do not know much about the galleries that are shops, except that each has its own interior design, some with places to sit, some without.

You can use this site to find links to most museums in Amsterdam:

The direct link to the museums page:

And one for those places selling art:
