Amsterdam airport?

Question

I will be traveling from MSP to Cairo Egypt in August. I am supposed to spend around 10-12 hours in Amsterdam airport. What kinds of things can I do there? Btw, Im 18 years old.(male) also, i heard that i can check in to a hotel connected to AMS for a few euros and take a nap and shower. Is this true?

With that much time you should definitely spend the day in Amsterdam.  It costs 4 euros - $7 each way to take a train to Amsterdam Central Station. When you arrive at the station - after you take it all in - find a local street map so you can figure out how to get back - check which train you need to get back to the airport - figure out exactly where and when you have to be to get back - then you can spend whatever time you have to explore and see the amazing city of Amsterdam. Get a falafel - go to Leidseplein (find it on your map) - touristy - or Rembrandtplein - less touristy - and take it all in - then get back to the airport and start planning when you'll come back.
