  1. Usage of tobacco has been banned from official places (like coffee shops) in the Netherlands effective 1st July 2008. Coffee shop owners will have to pay a tremendous fine if they'd allow you to smoke tobacco.

  2. I'm no expert as I don't frequent coffee shops as a rule.

However reading & watching the news, the authorities have increased the "inspectors" nationwide from 40 to 200 who can walk in without notice and whilst the first fine is nominal (for tobacco), the succeeding fines, running into the thousands by fine number 4, are going to be a deterent (putting it mildly!).  However a lot of media focus is of course on Amsterdam with the tourist trade, and I can imagine a bulk of the inspectors are going to be located there for the time being.

However, how they are going to determine what are the contents (either pure cannabis or mixed with tobacco) being smoked is anyone's guess, unless they are watching at the time of rolling up.

I guess it's best to just see what others are doing first, or see if there is one which has the partition rooms which were talked about.
