Amtrack experience?

Question

Soon I'm going from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Jacksonville, Florida on an Amtrak train, and I was just wondering how the actual experience of the train ride is? I'll be on the train for about two and a half to three and a half days, so I figured I should get some opinions on how the experience of the ride is. Thanks in advance for anyone's opinions <3

My wife and I are avid Amtrak riders.  We ride the Coast Starlight twice per year out of San Jose, California into Seattle, Washington.  Its a really nice trip.

The accomodations are quite nice on the train.  The staff has always been very professional and courtious.  I would more closely describe it as a rolling hotel, especially when you have your own sleeper compartment.

My wife and I get the little roomette.  Its perfect for two, though it is small.  But we don&#039;t need much to make us happy.

If you are going to travel coach, I would not recommend this due to the length of your trip.

The food is also really good on the train, and the meals are included with your ticket, (with purchase of any sleeper accomodations).  There are showering facilities on the train.  You may have to ask the porter to unlock the rom for that, unless you have that ability in your cabin.

The only thing I can say is this.  Amtrak seems to have its own clock, so don&#039;t be in a hurry to get to where you are going.  But I will have to say they have always gotten us to our locations safe and sound.

Just so you are aware, my wife and I are 36 years old, and we love traveling by rail. Its been a great expereince every time.  And... don&#039;t forget to visit the Parlour Car and the Observation car.  If you don&#039;t you are missing half the trip!  Definately don&#039;t forget your camera.  You are going to need it!

Will you be having a sleep ing compartment?  If so you&#039;ll be called to the dining car first over those in coach.  May have wine and cheese tasting.    The motion of the train may rock you to sleep.   Food is somewhat expensive.   Have FuN!!

It&#039;s pretty cool, but I was only on it for a few hours.  If you&#039;re going overnight, make sure you take stuff to do so you don&#039;t get bored.  But it&#039;s a good chance to meet people, especially tourists.

go straight to the bar car and drink so much that you ALMOST get kicked off...its great there is nothing like it
