Considering trip from FL to DC roughly 27 hour trip. How comfortable are the seats? The cost of the room on train is quite expensive. Can you recline the seats enough to get by.

  1. They recline a bit. It's just like a coach airplane seat, with more leg room. My trip was only Chicago to Milwaukee, 1.5 hours, it went by very fast.

  2. I used to take Amtrak all the time to NYC. I found the seats comfortable. They have bathrooms & dining car,& I slept a few hrs.I don;t remember whether the seats went far back, but I do remember that they went a little back.27 hrs is a very very long trip, but these days I would also prefer a train than fly.

  3. You can recline the seats, and you also have the option of stretching your legs.  Go to the dining car for a snack or just walk the length of the train.

  4. Yeah, they are comfortable and recline a lot more than any plane or bus seat you've ridden.

Anyway, you won't be spending all day there.  You'll spend at least half your waking hours in other cars, such as getting your meals in the full service diner, enjoying the view and meeting people in the lounge, and whatnot.  It's a train, you're expected to be up and about a lot.

  5. One time I went From Washington to Nevada. It was a pretty sweet ride. It was short-or mabye the 3 hour long nap made it fast. the trip will help you catch up on your sleep.

  6. I´ve been on Amtrak from Denver to Oakland, CA and found the seats in coach quite comfortabel.
