Amtrak from NYC to Miami?

Me and my girlfriend are planning to head to Miami soon, but we're thinking of going by train...

Has anybody done this? Details?

Yea i took the amtrack from Chicago to Denver and the ride was very nice and comfortable and there was a great view.it's a lot cheaper than going by car with gas prices these days.and the stops were only 5 mins tops and the rest were only about 1 to 2 mins very nice ride and fun.bring your own water or food if possible a bottle of water for 16.9 oz is 2.00$

Amtrak is pretty cool, big, fairly comfortable seats, usually plenty of space though the trains can get crowded from time to time. The observation cars have great views and the eastern seaboard is a pretty scenic trip. I've gone cross country a couple times and had a great time, but don't go more than 36 hours in coach. The snack bar car has pretty poor food, but the dining car is very good, though expensive. Bring water and snacks and treat yourself to at least one good meal enroute. It is very relaxing to eat a good meal, watching the countryside roll by. NY to Miami is about 27 hours on the schedule, but you will probably be an hour or so late getting into Miami. With no discounts the tix are $212 RoundTrip, but even a AAA membership will take 10% off and a student id card will take 15% off that price. If you don't have a lot of time, fly. If you want a trip you will remember for years, try Amtrak.
