I take a bus and then it stops and I'm supposed to transfer onto a train. It's all through amtrak but I'm scared because I only have 15 minutes when the bus stops to get on the train. My mom keeps saying the bus will be late and the train will leave early and I'll be stranded. Is that really how it works or does it need to be on time?

any experienced bus/train travelers w/ advice?

  1. is the bus part of the train trip or seperate?

usually the bus will arrrive in enough time to catch the train

(*if* its part of Amtrak though way bus service) but ifs

just a transit bus (then maybe not)

(like for exmaple if you are taking the San Jaquin trains and

board the amtrak bus say in Los Angeles, then bus will

take to you to bakersfiled where you change to the train

  2. If the bus and the train are both through Amtrak, it's probably a "guaranteed connection".  That means that the train won't leave until the bus arrives, and that they will give enough time to move from the bus to the train.

To check if it is indeed a guaranteed connection, just call Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL and ask--they'll know!
