Question:

Amtrak to Cincinnati from Charlottesville and Greyhound to Louisville?

I have to go to Louisville and I think I'm going to take the train to Cincinnati. Since the train doesn't go to KY, I'll have to take a Greyhound ride from Cincinnati to Louisville.

The train will get to OH late--around 1:03 am if it's on time. And the next Greyhound is around 4 am. How safe should I feel in the Cincinnati Amtrak station? The website says a station attendant will be there until 6 am.

I'm traveling alone, 1st time train rider, and female. Is the OH train station close to the Greyhound station in Cincinnati? How is the bus ride from Cincinnati to Louisville (4-6am down and around 1-3am coming back to VA)?

What should I keep in mind when riding? How rocky is the train ride? Can you get internet access on the train? How dark is it on the train?

Any other tips/thoughts would be helpful. Thanks!

  1. let me tell you most staions are in not so good areas if you do go this route i would recomend you get a taxi around cinci also amtreck will run lateu may have a 1 12 hour lay over if you lucky so u wont be there long and there are always gards at major grayhound staions

  2. The train station is not in the best part of Cincinnati, but certainly not the worst either.  The bus ride from Cincinnati to Louisville should be less than 2 hours so it won't be too bad.  I am not for sure but I think that Amtrak and Greyhound are on the same grounds in Cincy.  I am sure there will be other riders getting off the train with you too.  Good luck and be careful!  Can't answer your train specific questions but hope I helped a bit.
