Amuse Me likely to amuse fans at Newton Abbot
It was quite unbelievable for fans to see Amuse Me winning three races in a row during May 2012, but for the grey gelding’s trainer, Jonjo O'Neill, it was normal as he knew the extent of talent the maverick horse possesses.
That excellent streak was followed by a couple of bad performances. Reading the wall, the trainer decided to school his pupil for some weeks. Then, the veteran horse spent the whole of August turning in extensive drills.
Back in the limelight, Amuse Me has to prove his skills once more at Newton Abbot, that will host the Happy 70th Birthday Mike Howard Handicap Hurdle after a few hours. The class 4 contest over 2 miles and 1 furlong has received a dozen of entries with Amuse Me being the strongest one.
The son of Daylami, out of Have Fun, registered a tremendous triumph at the same venue on May 21. That was the New Alfresco Novices' Handicap Chase.
He moved on to win Blayze Unguem "Decade of Success" Handicap Chase at Towcester. The maverick sprinter made an impact again in the third straight start named as "Party In The Paddock" Next Thursday Handicap Hurdle.
At his peak, through plenty of hard training, Amuse Me seems to be confident for another winning performance.
Changing The Guard is likely to do well in the race, but he will have to race out of his skin to impede Amuse Me. The Dr Richard Newland trained bay gelding gained great momentum by winning the Blue Square Bet Handicap Hurdle at Huntingdon on August 27.
Earlier, the experienced horse accomplished a classic conquest on July 1. Overall, he has 6 wins to his name. There is no denying the fact that he will prove to be a tough rival for Amuse Me, but he is not likely to win.
By and large, the competition will be awe-inspiring with Amuse Me and Changing The Guard fighting assertively. Let us catch up the heated action. Good luck to both the mighty horses.
