Amy winehouse -- a tragic artist??

why does everyone treat amy winehouse like she is some sort of tragic great artist? like she's a musical GENIUS who is really misunderstood? she has had ONE good album (not brilliant or terribly original) and now she's a full-out junkie. if she died tomorrow, then everyone would mourn like we lost a great artist. REALLY? do people really feel this way or is the media manipulating this fantasy?? does anyone else think this is way overboard??!!

I don't think she's that good, I do like some of her songs, and I do think that people should just leave her alone. If she wants to do drugs so what. I don't get why the entire media has to harp about her all the time like she's the worst person ever. Tons of bands do (or did) drugs and noone cared but if she does it it's a whole different story. Why??

When people realize that she isn't going to produce anything worth listening too, they will realize that she really isn't an artist at all. She's just another talentless clown who has been propped up by the recording industry. Put in the payola that greases the tracks that these hobos ride to fame on and you have yourself a gin-u-wine superstar.

If it ends up in top 40, its c**p.

If people hate it and it gets banned, it has potential. Until the recording industry sucks that in too.

I KNOW! I dont think that someone like her should get so many good reviews and publicity! She did drugs!!!! She wasnt even a good singer!

I totally agree. I think it is because Britain doesn't produce that many great singers and they are trying to make her this great British talent. She is nothing more than an addict who happens to be a singer. I think it's really strange how Hollywood is enabling her. She was treated like a princess at the grammies despite the fact that she was denied a VISA to even enter the USA. Let's think about it....Whitney Houston, an American icon, has been vilified for her drug problem yet Amy Winehouse has been coddled and treated like an angel. I hate to say racism, but what else could it be? Amy Winehouse had one good song yet she's treated like she's the best singer to ever come down the pike. She is also hateful with her racist children's songs and she's even punched out people at her concerts. Sick Sick woman.
