An 18 pound size dog?

My husband and I are looking into adopting a cute little cocker spaniel. I haven't seen him in person yet, but he's about 18.8 pounds. How big would you say that is? Like could you compare it to something so we can get a general idea of how big he is? Thanks all!

18# is about the size of two medium sized cats or a very large cat.

You can expect that he'll be about the size of a football with legs, head and tail :)

Depending on the age, he may get bigger. Most cockers stay between 20 and 30#. They are prone to ear problems, so I'd recommend picking up ear cleaner to use weekly to stay ahead of problems (which can become chronic if you don't stay ahead of them).

Cockers are also the #1 face biter of children. Make sure you've got a trainer lined up if you have babies.

for an average sized person the head of a cockerspaniel will come to about knee height.

cockers are wonderfull pet dogs, i grew up with them and my parents have a 26lb male whos the love of their life

I'm 5'3' and I would imagine that the dog's head would come up to my knee cap.

I have a short cat. She is 10 lbs. So add another 8 lbs and you will have a small dog. He must not be full grown.

I have a mini schnauzer that's 18 pounds and she comes up to a couple inches below my knee but she's a sturdy little dog.  Not fat but she's got a barrel chest and is pretty muscle-y lol.  So I would imagine that a cocker would be a little taller than that.

Bread box, large cat, 9mo human all weigh 18lb. For a cocker, this is on the petite size.
