Can/Does the amount of energy in the foods of animals and humans become affected by genetically modifying seeds we plant in our enviroment? Explain your answer.

  1. It could, but it does not necessarily have to do so.

    Human manipulation of plant genetics is typically for taste, size, color, or disease and pest resistance.  Crop yields are measured in tonnes or bushels per acre.  I suppose it is possible to measure the energy conversion efficiency of crops in calories per acre.  Keep in mind that in some cases not much of the plant is eaten.  Ironically the demand for food that is lower in convertable calories may be greater.
