An AG related Speech?

Question

I am doing a speech and it has to be about agriculture. I really want it to be interesting and kind of non-obvious. I can't find much so if you have any suggestions please help!!!

You could discuss agriculture in different places in the world or in different times in history.  Or you could focus on a single crop and discuss that.  Or you could focus on one of the many aspects of agriculture, such as the soil or plants or animals or business or machinery.  You could discuss the misconceptions that many urban dwellers have about agriculture.  You could look at the role of agriculture in producing food, or clothing, or fuel.  There are lots of possibilities.

Make a comparison between organic agriculture and conventional, and show how organic farming has been on the rise. OR, compare classical conventional agric. to organic agric. to sustainable agric. OR look at a specific modern advancement. Get some good graphs or pie charts or photos that gives people something to look at other than you. Set up an outline to give your information a direction. State what you want to talk about, then talk about it, then close with a statement of purpose showing that what you covered was proven by your speech and material.

Talk about global warming if you believe it and how it may effect agriculture.  Mention how greatly increased carbon dioxide levels have little relationship to actual temperature increases.  Mention how most ag plants increase leaf growth and yields when grown in higher CO2 environments.  Mention how the "citrus" line in Flordia has moved south approximately 1 mile per year for the last 50 years.  Talk about desertification in Africa and how much of it is due to global warming and how much is due to overgrazing.  Don't forget to mention that over there, animals are considered wealth and therefore, no one is going to willingly reduce animal numbers to reduce overgrazing.  

Or, talk about how horse slaughter for human consumption has been halted in this country because of pressure by animal rights groups.  Don't forget to mention that while we consider horses, dogs, cats, monkeys, snakes, etc to be pets, other cultures across the globe consider them a food source and what right is it of us to tell those folks what they should and shouldn't eat.  Also mention that with the horse slaughter ban, old unwanted or infirm horses have been let starve to death.

Give a speech on permaculture. there is a lot of information available and you should be able to make a very interesting speech on it. You will have people all for the idea and people in your audience against it, so you should get some interesting discussion after your speech.
