  1. Hi Prophet.  On Ants. They do have the equivalent  just as every other creature has. but I do know what you mean, having studied Ants as a small boy. They seem to have compassion, as I have seen them hoist a wounded ant onto a leaf and  take it back to the nest. The question is, are they taking it back to be nursed back to health or to the larder along with the other caterpillars flies and beetles to be eaten at a later date. Also they seem to be taking orders from some directorate. Bees and wasps also have this type of intelligence. JB.

  2. This shows the wisdom of checking claims first. A few minutes of research produced this information:

"Ants do not have lungs. Oxygen enters through tiny holes all over the body and Carbon Dioxide leaves through the same holes. There are no blood vessels. The heart is a long tube that pumps colorless blood from the head back to the rear and then back up to the head again. The blood kind of coats the insides of the ants and is then sucked into the tube and pumped up to the head again. The nervous system of ants consists of a long nerve cord that also runs from head to rear with branches leading to the parts of the body, kind of like a human spinal cord."

"An ant brain has about 250 000 brain cells. A human brain has 10,000 million so a colony of 40,000 ants has collectively the same size brain as a human. "

"Ant brains are largest amongst insects.  Mushroom shaped brain appendages have function similar to the gray-matter of human brains."

"Insects, like all other arthropods, have an open circulatory system which differs in both structure and function from the closed circulatory system found in humans and other vertebrates.   In a closed system, blood is always contained within vessels (arteries, veins, capillaries, or the heart itself).   In an open system, blood (usually called hemolymph) spends much of its time flowing freely within body cavities where it makes direct contact with all internal tissues and organs"
