We want to relocate for about 12months about Oct 2009, so awhile away, but it will take a long time! I have a UK passport so i'm apart of the EU however I think it might be easier if i got my british nursing registration first then applied for portugal but i have no idea where to start!!

Any info will be handy!

Thanks

  1. Whilst legally you can move there tomorrow and start looking for a job, I do think you might struggle a little.  In occupations such as nursing it is important to be fluent in the native language, which you didn't mention.  Also you mentioned "we".  If your partner/family are non-EU passport holders, then it is not going to be so easy as just upping and going, so make sure you check with your local Portuguese embassy concerning the visa possibilities for them

I would say start looking up some of the expat sites in Portugal.  They often have forums where Q&A's are placed and you can ask/see info from people in the same situation who can offer first hand advice e.g. here's one to get you started http://www.expatfocus.com/index.php?name...

On this site there is for example one post already about nursing here http://www.expatfocus.com/index.php?name...

It's more specific to what you want, than Yahoo answers so should be able to help you.

    Best of luck

  2. An aussie nurse?

    wow!

    like Kiley Minogue?

for sure, your portuguese patients will be very lucky!

  3. You have a Uk and apparently some other non-Australian passport - what makes you think you are Australian?  Or, were you trying to say you want an Australian nurse to contact you?
