Two resistors each of resistance 20 Ohms are connected in series with a 2 volt battery.

There are three cases:

Case 1

An Ammeter is placed between the two resistors

Case 2

An Ammeter is placed after the two resistors

Case 3

An Ammeter is placed before the two resistors

What would be the reading on the ammeter in each of the cases and why?

  1. The current is always equal to voltage over resistance (Ohm's Law), so that's 2 / 40 A, and it is always the same for the same series.

  2. I don't think that there would be any diff. & the reading will be 0.05 A.
