Question:

An Italian beach resort very near Rome!?

I am hopefully travelling to Italy this summer, and want to have a beach holiday, but would like it to be close to Rome as i would like to go into the city to see museums etc.

I found a place called Fregene but am unsure about it, and am finding it difficult to find hotels.

I am 18 so would like an affordable and young place to go with my boyfriend.

Any ideas, or places you have visited that i should look into?

Thanks,

  1. We stayed at a small resort on the shores of Lake Bracciano which is about 30 miles North of Rome - only took 20 minutes or so on the train and it was as quiet/lively as you like.  Try putting Bracciano in Google/similar and see what you come up with.  Hope you have a really good time - we love Italy and our twins were conceived there!!!

  2. If you want to be near Rome, Ostia could be the best choice. It is the quarter of Rome on the seaside, it is far from the city but you can reach it with the city train which costs like a bus. You could stay in Rome and every day decide if you want to visit the city or go to beach. In Ostia the sea and the beach are not beautiful, but it is full of young people, funny and not very expensive.

If you prefer a good seaside, you have to get far from Rome: for instance Ladispoli or Santa Marinella towards North, Nettuno, San Felice Circeo, Sperlonga... towards South. I was in Sperlonga last year and the sea is wonderful, I send you a link http://www.sperlonga.it/english/index.ht... . But it is not Rome, nor close to Rome, it is a village 100 km far from the capital.

  3. AAAAAAAA POIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIZZZZZZZZZAAAAAAAAAAAAA...

  4. Fregene, Fiumicino and Santa Marinella are quite close to Rome; you could even take a hotel in Rome (in this case choose the Aurelia area, which is close and not that expensive) and go back and forth to the beach.

Ostia is a bit further, but lovely during summer (You CAN'T go back and forh, it's too long!).

Anzio and Nettuno are lovely places too, but definitely too far from Rome unless you rent a car or are prepared to catch trains.

  5. Hi,

You could try staying in Lido di Ostia. I've never been there, but looking at a description of the place, it seems a popular resort for the romans. It has three beaches and has a nightlife.

Try this page for hotels in the area. http://www.twilightblue.eu/en/mapsearch/...

It would seem as the Hotel Belvedere is realatively affordable. Doesn't look exception as a hotel though. Maybe the Hotel Riveria. After you put in your dates on the page you can see the real prices. Have a good holiday.

  6. you can take an hotel in Anzio or NETTUNO.

from there you can have a direct connection to Rome Termini by train and be in the center of Rome in ab. 1 hour

another idea could be taking your hotel in OSTIA

PS: as you get close to Rome, more dirty could be the sea....
