An Overview of NFL Week 8 (Part 3)
This is a continuation of the first and second part of this article, discussing the 2010 NFL Regular Season Week 8.
Seattle Seahawks vs. Oakland Raiders
The Seahawks (4-3) were crushed by the Raiders (4-4) with a final score of 3-33. Seattle’s leading passer was Matt Hasselbeck with 13-32 for 160 yards, while the leader in rushing was Leon Washington with 5 carries for 29 yards. The leader in receptions
was John Carlson with 3 for 47 yards.
The Raiders’ defense, along with QB Jason Campbell, led to their overwhelming victory. Campbell was the leading passer with 15-27 for 310 yards and 2 TDs. The leading rusher was Darren McFadden with 21 carries for 111 yards, while Darrius Heyward-Bey led
in receptions with 5 for 105 yards and 1 TD.
The Seahawks had only 162 offensive yards and gave up 1 turnover in 23:56 of possession time, while Oakland managed 545 yards and gave up no turnovers in 36:04.
The Seahawks scored only 3 points, late in the fourth quarter, for a total of 3. The Raiders had 3 points in both the first and third quarter, with 7 in the second, and 20 in the fourth, totaling 33.
Minnesota Vikings vs. New England Patriots
The Vikings (2-5) lost to the Patriots (6-1) with a final score of 18-28. Brett Favre was the leading passer with 22-32 for 259 yards. Favre left the game in the fourth, with a cut on his chin that required eight stitches. Even after suffering a broken foot
last week, Favre is not known for skipping a game due to injuries, and has started a record 292 consecutive games. Adrian Peterson led in rushing with 25 carries for 92 yards and 1 TD, while Percy Harvin led in receptions with 6 for 104 yards.
New England’s Tom Brady led in passing with 16-27 for 240 yards and 1 TD. BenJarvus Green-Ellis led in rushing with 17 carries for 112 yards and 2 TDs, while Brandon Tate was the leading receiver with 3 receptions for 101 yards and 1 TD, including a 62-yard
touchdown pass from Brady.
The Vikings had 410 offensive yards and gave up 1 turnover in 35:08 of play, while the Patriots managed 362 yards and no turnovers in 24:52.
Minnesota had 7 points in the second quarter, 3 in the third, and 8 in the fourth, for a total of 18, while New England had 7 in the second, 14 in the third, and 7 in the fourth, totaling 28.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Arizona Cardinals
The Buccaneers (5-2) defeated the Cardinals (3-4) with a final score of 38-35, thanks to Aqib Talib’s defensive heroics, including two interceptions, one of which was returned 45 yards for a TD. The Bucs’ lead passer was Josh Freeman with 18-25 for 278 yards
and 1 TD, while LeGarrette Blount led in rushing with 22 carries for 120 yards and 2 TDs. Mike Williams led in receptions with 4 for 105 yards and 1 TD.
Arizona’s leading passer was Derek Anderson with 16-24 for 234 yards and 1 TD, while Beanie Wells led in rushing with 16 carries for 50 yards and 1 TD. Steve Breaston was the leading receiver with 8 receptions for 147 yards.
Tampa Bay had 407 offensive yards and 2 turnovers in 30:29 of possession time, while the Cardinals had 396 yards and 4 turnovers in 29:31.
The Bucs had 7 points in each of the first, third, and fourth quarters, and 17 in the second, for a total 38 points, while Arizona had 7 in each of the first, second, and fourth quarters and 14 in the third, for a total of 35.
