An Overview of NFL Week 8 (Part 4)

This is a continuation of the first, second, and third part of this article, discussing the 2010 NFL Regular Season Week 8.
Pittsburgh Steelers vs. New Orleans Saints
The Steelers (5-2) lost to the Saints (5-3) with a final score of 10-20. Pittsburgh’s leading passer was QB Ben Roethlisberger, who went 17-28 for 195 yards. Rashard Mendenhall led in rushes with 15 carries for 71 yards and 1 TD, while Mike Wallace led in
receptions with 3 for 43 yards.
New Orleans QB Drew Brees led a great second half to push the Saints past the Steelers and led in passes with 34-44 for 305 yards and 2 TDs. Julius Jones was the rushing leader with 7 carries for 16 yards and Robert Meachem led in receiving with 6 receptions
for 76 yards.
The Steelers managed 279 offensive yards in 25:54, while the Saints had 318 yards in 34:06. Both teams had 2 turnovers apiece.
Pittsburgh gained 3 points in the second quarter and 7 in the fourth for a total of 10, while the Saints had 3 points in both the second and third quarter, and made a comeback with 14 in the fourth, totaling 20.
Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts
The last game of NFL Week 8 pitted the Texans (4-3) against the Colts (5-2) on Monday, November 1, 2010, in which the Colts emerged victorious, with a final score of 17-30, to regain control of the AFC South. Houston’s leading passer was Matt Schaub with
22-38 for 201 yards and 1 TD, while Adrian Foster led in rushing with 15 carries for 102 yards and 1 TD. Andre Johnson led in receptions with 7 for 106 yards and 1 TD.
Indianapolis’ leading passer was Peyton Manning with 26-45 for 268 yards and 2 TDs, while Mike Hart led in rushes with 12 carries for 84 yards. Pierre Garcon was the receiving leader with 7 receptions for 78 yards.
The Texans had 291 offensive yards and gave up 2 turnovers in 23:35 of play, while the Colts managed 366 yards and no turnovers in 36:25.
Houston had 3 points in the second quarter and 7 points in each the third and fourth quarter, for a total of 17 points. Indianapolis gained 7 points in the first, 10 in both the second and third, and 3 in the fourth, for a total of 30.
Week 8 Review
The Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles and Baltimore Ravens had a bye week in Week 8 and will play in Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Indianapolis
Colts, and Miami Dolphins, respectively.
