An Overview of NFL Week 9 (Part 2)
This is a continuation of the first part of this article, discussing the 2010 NFL Regular Season Week 9.
New York Jets vs. Detroit Lions
The Jets (6-2) defeated the Lions (2-6) with a final score of 23-20, in OT. New York’s lead passer was Mark Sanchez, who threw 22-39 for 323 yards and 1 TD. LaDainian Tomlinson was the leader in rushes with 15 carries for 55 yards, while Santonio Holmes
led in receptions with 5 for 114 yards.
Detroit’s passing leader was Matthew Stafford, who went 20-36 for 240 yards and 2 TDs, while Jahvid Best led in rushing with 16 carries for 48 yards. Nate Burleson was the leader in receptions with 7 for 113 yards and 1 TD.
The Jets managed 424 offensive yards and gave up 2 turnovers in 29:32, while the Lions had 306 yards and no turnovers in 32:46.
The Jets gained 10 points in both the second and fourth quarter, followed by a FG in OT for a total of 23 points. The Lions had 7 points in both the first and fourth quarter, and 6 in the third, totaling 20.
Arizona Cardinals vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Cardinals (3-5) lost to the Vikings (3-5), 24-27, after Vikings QB Brett Favre came back from a 14 point deficit to win the game in OT. Arizona’s lead passer was Derek Anderson, going 15-26 for 179 yards and 1 TD, while Tim Hightower led in rushes with
13 carries for 39 yards. Larry Fitzgerald was the receiving leader with 7 receptions for 107 yards.
Minnesota’s lead passer was Favre, passing 36-47 for 446 yards and 2 TDs, while Adrian Peterson led in rushes with 15 carries for 81 yards and 1 TD. Percy Harvin was the leader in receptions with 9 for 126 yards.
The Cardinals managed to gain 225 yards and gave up 1 turnover in 27:13. The Vikings had more than double that amount of yards, with 507, but gave up 3 turnovers in the process, during their possession time of 38:05.
The Cardinals scored 14 in the second quarter, 7 in the third, and 3 in the fourth, totaling 24. The Vikings scored 10 in the second, 14 in the fourth, and 3 in OT, totaling 27.
New Orleans Saints vs. Carolina Panthers
The Saints (6-3) crushed the Panthers (1-7) with a final score of 34-3. New Orleans’ passing leader was Drew Brees, who threw 27-43 for 253 yards and 2 TDs, while Julius Jones led in rushing with 6 carries for 68 yards. Lance Moore was the leader in receptions
with 6 for 77 yards.
Carolina’s leading passer was Jimmy Clausen, who threw 8-18 for 47 yards, while Tyrell Sutton was the leader in rushing with 7 carries for 41 yards. David Gettis led in receiving with 2 receptions for 22 yards.
The Saints managed to gather 408 offensive yards and gave up 1 turnover in 34:41, while the Panthers gained only 195 yards and gave up 2 turnovers in 25:19.
The Saints scored 7 points in both the first and fourth quarter, and scored 10 in both the second and third. The Panthers scored a FG for 3 in the first, and, sadly, would end the game with only one pathetic little FG.
