An Saighdiur gets the best odds for Dundalk Apprentice Handicap
An Saighdiur has won the best odds for the Dundalk Apprentice Handicap at Dundalk in Ireland on Wednesday, April 4, 2012. The winner of the race will be awarded with a cash prize of €7,590.
Going will be standard in the 5 furlong event, which is scheduled to start at 6:20 GMT. A total of 12 entries have been confirmed and their names are as follows: An Saighdiur, Queen Grace, Copper Dock, Archers Road, Pencil Hill, Felina, Empirico, Big Bad
Lily, Calm Bay, Liberty Green, Patrickswell and Sovereign Secure.
Out of the above mentioned runners, An Saighdiur has got the best record. He has entered 24 races overall, winning four of them. Although his strike rate is not impressive, he has managed to secure five runners up spots and one third place finish.
In addition to that, the five-year-old gelding has been performing brilliantly in recent times, which is why the bookies have given him the best odds today. The punters will also be placing quite a lot of bets in his favour, as he appears to be in dominant
form.
Andrew Slattery’s trainee has been running quite regularly at Dundalk, thus it will be hard to beat him. He has shown some great skills, winning his previous two races. He will be chasing a hat-trick at the venue.
The race favourite gelding will be partnered by young jockey, Ross Coakley, who has a lot of potential of becoming one of the best in the business.
Other than the race favourite, Queen Grace will also have a solid chance of winning today, as she is in decent form. Her overall record is not good, as she has only managed to win a single event out of 13 times.
However, the five-year-old mare has also secured five runners up positions and one third place finish, which shows that she is fully capable of fighting for victories.
Michael J. Browne’s trained mare struggled mostly at the start of her career, but has been delivering consistent results in recent times. She will be ridden by S. A. Gray, who is quite inexperienced at this level, but has the potential to finish on top of
the table.
Copper Dock, Archers Road and Pencil Hill will be the other runners to watch out for at Dundalk today.
