An Saighdiur set to sizzle at Dundalk – Centre Handicap Preview
An Saighdiur will surely show a decent run at Dundalk racecourse on Friday, March 9 to claim a valuable victory in ‘Your Local Value Centre Handicap’ race of 5f Standard distance.
For the huge prize money of €6,900, Andrew Slattery’s talented bay gelding will compete against seven rivals including Calm Bay, My Girl Anna, Copper Dock, Ability N Delivery, Queen Grace, Almadaa and Primalova.
The high-stakes competition is scheduled to begin at 6:00 (GMT). Each of the eight runners is all ready for the mega showdown.
The reason behind An Saighdiur’s being the hot favourite is two marvellous victories that the brilliant horse accomplished during the first two months of 2012.
After narrowly winning a race on January 27, the five-year-old gelding went on to finish first in his last outing on February 17. He ran for both of the times at Dundalk track.
Thus, the talented horse has got well acclimatised with the running condition of the ground and this familiarity will lend a great hand to him in today’s clash.
An Saighdiur made his debut in October 2009. His maiden triumph came in October 2010. Though he has been somewhat inconsistent throughout his career but some of his performance truly speaks volumes of his inherent capabilities.
Overall, the gelding has won 3 out of his total 23 starts so far, earning £24,368. His chances to finish first in today’s event are as high as 90 percent provided he manages to perpetuate his winning momentum.
Among the other runners, Ability N Delivery and Copper Dock seem to be tough enough.
Ability N Delivery hiked his confidence level to a great extent by winning a big race with a big margin at Lingfield track on March 2, 2012. Prior to this, the Michael J. Browne-trained gelding finished third in a significant competition at Dundalk.
On the other hand, Copper Dock notched up top spot in an ace race at Dundalk on February 3, 2012. The trainee of T. G. McCourt went on to finish 6th in his last outing at the same track on February 17.
By and large, it is expected that the event will be packed with thrill. There will be a rip-roaring clash at Dundalk. The hot favourite runner will not be able to cruise to victory easily as Ability N Deliver and Copper Dock are likely to give him enough
tough time.
Let us see how the top gelding manages to get top position. Good luck to all the runners.
