An air mass question, please help.?

An air mass from the Gulf of Mexico is moving north to New York and has a high relative humidity. What will the temperature and air pressure be like? (high or low) Please help =)

  1. This sounds like a maritime tropical air mass, which would be warm and humid.  Pressure would more than likely be somewhat low, but that would also depend on what else was happening at the surface.


  2. The fellow above me has a good answer.  I'd just like to elaborate a bit.

    Air masses move via fronts.  The temperature ahead of the front is generally warmer than the air behind a front.  Since this air mass is coming from the Gulf of Mexico, it will be warmer.

    Likewise, the pressure will get lower as the front approaches.  Air masses build due to high pressure raising the moisture aloft into the atmosphere.  However, as the front approaches, the pressure will drop.
