An alternative way,instead of buying a velux blind for a velux window in roof?

my daughter,a nursing student,cannot afford a blind and would like a cheaper way of keeping out light and heat.etc.

  1. I made cheap curtains for my Velux windows by cutting a quilt cover in two, doubling the material and making a hem at the  top and bottom.  I've hung them using net curtain wires and hooks, 3 at the top and 3 at the bottom - either side and in the middle.  Granted my windows are in a wood surround so it was easy to hang them.  Good luck.


  2. you can just use a normal blind - as long as you fit a 'frame'/wooden battens to keep it in place - or just fasten it in place at the bottom when the blinds are closed

    or just ordinary little curtains will do it - fix top and bottom with curtain wire.
