An amish stove..is it worth the money?? how does it work???

  1. Im sorry amish stove?  do you mean wood burning stove?  sorry I have never heard it called that. anyway they are a pain to cook on but we use one to heat our house as it is a lot cheaper(we use energy efficient space heaters in the upstairs) anyway they are great if you have someone who is physically able to cut a lot of wood!

When we were living in Kansas City, my parents had one.  They used it to heat their huge 2 story house.  It worked fine for them.  They did have a propane furnace as a backup method of heating, just in case, but they never used it.  They burned field corn in theirs.  Got mildewed corn one time, really cheap cause they couldn't feed it to cows.  They heated the 2500 sqft house for about $20 - $30 a month in the coldest part of winter that year.  Theirs was not designed to cook on, so if that is what you need, I can't help there.
