CaCO3 (s) 2HCl (aq) --> CaCl2 (aq) H2O (l) CO2 (g)

Determine the mass (g) of calcium carbonate needed to neutralize 12.0 mL of 0.20 M HCl.

I have been trying to work on this problem and for some reason am having a hard time. Thank you so much in advance!

  1. Moles HCl = 0.0120 L x 0.20 M =  0.0024

    The ratio between CaCO3 and HCl is 1 : 2

    moles CaCO3 = 0.0024 / 2 = 0.0012

    Mass CaCO3 = 0.0012 mol x 100 g/mol = 0.12 g
