  1. Global trade & open borders are designed to increase the return on investment for the investor class. Therefore, labor is reduced to a commodity & will be purchased from the cheapest source.  Importing cheaper labor or outsourcing labor to countries that provide cheaper labor will improve return on investment for the investor class, but reduce wages for those selling their labor.

    Because the majority sell their labor & global economies can seek the cheapest labor elsewhere, the middle class can & will be reduced to the lowest common denominator. To restructure my comment in more common terms... the middle class will become the new age serfs.

    Added:

    Due to cheaper labor one can expect some retardation of automation because automation is driven by a desire to reduce cost of production. Why automate production if it doesn't increase profits?
