I am going to help pay the fine for her in a couple of days, but she is worried the cops will come after her for the warant. what will happen? Will everything be ok until i can pay the fine for her?

  1. I think she will have to go to court to have the warrant dropped once the fine is payed.  Check with the issuing county of the warrant they can tell you better

  2. nope, they will come arest her anyway, regardless if its paid ornot, but once its paid your ok

  3. No. The warrant won't be lifted til the fine is paid and you have a receipt. Otherwise its open season for the police. Sometimes, even though the fine is paid, the police aren't informed in time, so it's important that both you and your friend have a copy of the receipt that shows you have paid. Don't mail in the payment. Just go to the courthouse. That way you can get a receipt right then and make sure the clerk sends the info to the police department via computer or whatever method they use. Once it is entered into the computers, the police usually know.

  4. She does not have to worry about the cops beating her door down for $415 in unpaid fines.  The risk is that she gets pulled over for a routine traffic violation, or comes into contact with the criminal justice system in some other fashion.  If they "run" her ID, they will take her in and hold her until someone bails her out or a judge holds a hearing.

Just tell her to obey the traffic laws and keep her nose clean--she will be fine.

Pay the fines in person and tell your friend to carry the receipt for a month or two just in case she gets pulled over and there is a snafu with the recordkeeping--it happens!

  5. If she pays the fine, she should be okay.  I would suggest that she send the payment, via certified mail, then hang onto proof of payment and then contact the Court and get a receipt for payment.
