I have an audition / interview on 8 August for a place at a theatre school.

They want a two minute monologue for the audition. Any help would be much appreciated as I have no idea what to expect.

Thank you.

  1. Put together at least 3 monologues together, making sure they display different parts of your personality (such as a happy, sad, and angry monologue) and work on them until you know them by heart.  After you do this if any private acting lessons are offered in your city, take those and show your teacher your monologues. Ask him/her how to help you become your character and what you could change in order to make it more believable. And don't forget to be sweet and confident at your audition. Make sure you know why you are there and why you want to act, because they might ask you a couple questions.

  2. If you want something good, I'd suggest either one of these two monologues :)

  3. Do they want Shakespeare or modern? Choose something applicable to your age - Methuen compile loads of different monologue books for young actors and adults.

They will want to see that you are willing to learn, that you can take criticism and most importantly that they can direct you.

When you go on an audition, usually you have the directors sitting at a table across from where you stand, they also might ask you some simple questions like why do you like acting.. Good Luck :)
