  1. The earthquake was on April 22nd 1991. In Costa Rica the earthquake hit Limón. Limón is located on Costa Rica's Caribbean Coast. The earthquake also hit Panama in the North Caribbean Coast. Reports say 95 people died in both countries (equally).

The 7.2 earquake was also felt in in Nicaragua, Honduras, San Andres Island and in eastern El Salvador (San Salvador).

  2. It was on the Caribbean side.  It is called the Limon earthquake because it hit the province and city of Limon.

The damages were big:  the railroad tracks were bent, two hotels were completely destroyed (one of them was the famous Las Holas Hotel), bridges were destroyed as well.

There were 48 casualties and 651 injured people in Costa Rica.
